The holiday season is here. We at Elizabeth Veterinary Clinic would like to take this time to let you know that knowing your pets has added so much to our lives. Each one of your pets is special to us and we thank you for giving us the opportunity to know them and take care of their medical needs.
During the holidays there are also many household dangers. Doors can be left open by traffic in and out of your house. Well-meaning friends and relatives often slip treats under the table causing gastric upset or worse. Poinsettias, while officially taken off the poisonous plant list are still toxic if eaten by the animals .Christmas tree wires and other cords can be bitten and cause electric shock and occasionally cats will climb Christmas trees getting tied up in the wires. Strings and ribbons if eaten cause problems.
Also the big holiday problem-CHOCOLATE. Keep it out of reach of your pets.
Unfortunately every year during this holiday season we see many people who decide to put their pets to sleep for reasons that do not fall within guidelines with which we are comfortable. If you are new to our practice we would like to inform you that we do not euthanize healthy pets or do other forms of "convenience euthanasia." For more information see our section When it's Time To Say Goodbye.
We wish you and your pets and other members of your families a beautiful holiday season and a wonderful New Year. Please let us know if you need us during this time. We will be open most of the holiday season.
